|
The LiDAR System Operator is responsible for airborne data acquisition and processing. Extensive fieldwork is required including GPS surveys, establishment and maintenance of a GPS base station. This position is also responsible for the post processing of GPS and LiDAR data.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) 1. Responsible for recommending improvements to field operations and sensor design 2. Planning and executing field activities including the evaluation of field conditions 3. Final decision maker on whether or not to proceed with a project and acquire airborne LiDAR data based on safety, weather and budgetary factors 4. Coordinates all aircraft operators, local survey parties, pilots, ATC and other third parties as required to accomplish the LiDAR mission 5. Timely reporting on the progress of each project 6. Extensive travel to support hardware manufacturing, design and field maintenance
Job Specifications 7. Excellent technical analytical skills 8. Ability to work independently and trouble shoot in order to achieve goals and complete assignments within established time frames 9. Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and project management skills with a proven ability to multi-task 10. Possess strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey and discuss technical issues with customers and vendors 11. Post secondary education in recognized Geomatics program 12. Minimum of three years of field survey work utilizing airborne laser survey and processing methods
Working Conditions Extensive travel is required 30-50% of the time with extended field stays between 6-12 weeks.
