ICON Engineering, Inc. is seeking a full-time GIS Specialist with interest in water and natural resources. ICON offers a Denver Tech Center office, modified work week, health insurance, PTO, 401k, and paid overtime. Occasional field work with data collection and GPS integration is expected.

Depending on experience and project workload, this position may include:
• Developing innovative cartographic products using ESRI and open source GIS solutions
• Designing single and multi-objective exhibits and maps for internal and external clients
• Providing base data for engineering analyses of watersheds, riverine, and storm sewer systems including dynamic attributes for land use, topography, infiltration, and regulatory limits
• GIS data support for Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM and others
• Designing web-based mapping products for display of engineering study data
• Designing web-based mapping products for display and monitoring of civil infrastructure data
• Designing web-based mapping products for remote data collection, inventory, and analysis
• Design web-based mapping products for collection of client and community input in a geotagged, timestamped, version controlled, cloud database
• GIS data development and analysis for floodplain, land use, and mapping products meeting state and federal mapping standards for DFIRM and LOMC processes
• Assisting stormwater, floodplain development, and wetland permit applications with geospatial data determinations, estimates, and exhibits
• Understanding of public and open source data libraries related to base mapping, lidar topography, parcels, and other planimetric datasets.
• Geospatial data support for land development, municipal engineering, planning, and related public presentations
• Prepare outreach materials, attend meetings, and present technical information to clients

Job Requirements

A BS in Geography or similar or five years’ experience with desktop GIS is required. Experience with web-mapping, open source solutions, Mapbox GL/Leaflet, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS is important. Experience producing high quality cartographic exhibits using Adobe Creative Suite is also preferred. The ability to work in a collaborative, flexible small team environment will be important. Basic understanding or willingness to learn basics of hydrology, hydraulics, storm water design, and interaction with AutoCAD, 2D hydraulic modeling, and watershed sciences is ideal.
