Job Summary:
Working with other team members, help NCAHD meet its mission, goals and objectives by managing large healthcare workforce datasets and mapping servers to support the data collection and processing activities that are a part of the center.

Job Duties:
1. Generate mapping products to support internal VCOM and external client requests
2. Perform spatial analysis and other GIS activities
3. Responsible for the entire data procurement process annually to create NCAHD’s Enhanced State Licensure data for 16 different professionals from each state board for the entire nation
4. Create and index a map archive of historic maps for VCOM internal access
5. Responsible for processing and integrating client data into spatial products and services (e.g. alumni tracking, mapping, etc.)
6. Assist in the creation and maintenance of spatial data for NCAHD’s portal and client data
7. Maintain general working knowledge of status of data, state boards, etc.
8. Normalize large datasets of inconsistent data (e.g., normalize over 10,000 variations of physician specialties from all 50 states; normalize over 40,000 variations of physicians’ medical schools, etc.)
9. Maintain and update NCAHD’s website, using a content management system
10. Assist in the maintenance and updating of various tools and models used to organize, store, process, and update NCAHD’s data repository including, but not limited to, state licensure data, demographic data, healthcare facility data, training institution data, and spatial data for the entire nation
11. Support healthcare workforce research and proposal development
12. Create images for use in NCAHD’s marketing campaign, as well as assist in the preparation of text content for marketing publications
13. Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor degree in Geographic Information Systems, Information Technology or similar subject
Licensure or certification: none
Work experience with:
• GIS Mapping products (preferred ESRI); (internship time will be considered but not classwork)
• Large dataset management
• Microsoft Office suite (strong experience that includes more than basic usage)

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with:
• Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server
• Programming languages (e.g. Python, JavaScript, HTML, SAS, etc.)
• Website Design (HTML, CSS, various CMS)
• Adobe Creative suite

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands and vision for office equipment such as computers; talk or hear; moderate telephone usage. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

Work environment: Office environment. Outside travel required 5-10% of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

We are the only national healthcare workforce research center that utilizes state licensure data primarily for conducting unique national, regional, state and local research on physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and 14 other healthcare providers. Over the last 7 years, we've created a host of products and services based, in part, upon this data and have been contracted by federal agencies, medical schools, research centers, national/state healthcare provider organizations, etc. to support their research, advocacy and healthcare education efforts. Our center is affiliated with the local osteopathic medical school but we are an independent non-profit research center. This position is very diverse and requires great attention to detail and an individual that works independently and learns quickly to perform the following:

1. Generate mapping products to support internal VCOM and external client requests
2. Responsible for processing and integrating client data into spatial products and services (e.g. alumni tracking, mapping, etc.)
3. Responsible for the entire data procurement process for NCAHD’s Enhanced state licensure data for 19 different professionals from each state board for the entire nation Create and index a map archive of historic maps for VCOM internal access
4. Assist in the creation, maintenance of NCAHD’s spatial data including the File Geodatabase Management System for NCAHD’s IMA and client data M
5. Maintain general working knowledge of status of data, state boards, etc.
6. Normalize large datasets of inconsistent data (eg. normalize over 10,000 variations of physician specialties from all 50 states, normalize over 40,000 variations of physicians’ medical schools, etc.)
7. Maintain and update NCAHD’s website
8. Assist in the maintenance and updating various tools and models (written in VBA and Python) used to organize, store, process, and update NCAHD’s data repository including, but not limited to, state licensure data, demographic data, healthcare facility data, training institution data, and spatial data for the entire nation
9. Support healthcare workforce research and proposal development
10. Create images for use in NCAHD’s marketing campaign as well as assist in the preparation of text content for marketing publications
11. Working with staff on maintaining the large healthcare provider datasets on LAN and WAN systems

Our requirements are: 2 years GIS using ESRI products (preferred) in the work environment; GIS data management experience, Work experience in large datasets; some web design experience; Adobe Creative suite and programming skills a plus
