Under the direction of the Principal Engineer, develops, implements, coordinates, and maintains spatial data and a District-wide ESRI-based Geographic Information System (GIS). Directly uses GIS technology and supports its use by others. Manages GIS projects. Coordinates the procurement of parcel data from the County, aerial photography, and topographic information for use in the GIS by multiple District workgroups. Manages and maintains the mapping of the District’s system. Supports Engineering and other departments by performing queries, developing custom maps for special projects and developing mapping applications using GIS.

Job Requirements

Requires an Associate’s Degree in GIS, geography, computer science, planning, mapping, surveying, or related field. A bachelor’s degree or completion of a GIS certificate program is desirable.
GIS I requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in GIS-related work utilizing ESRI products. GIS II requires four (4) years of experience in the above.
GIS I requires GISP certification from the GIS Certification Institute or an ArcGIS Desktop Professional Certification from ESRI within three (3) years of hire date. GIS II requires this certification, or equivalent.
