Job Description


GeoSearch is actively seeking a GIS business analyst to work directly with our client's federal government client at the Federal Center in Lakewood, Colorado. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of geospatial data analysis, data standards development, data migration and implementation activities, data quality process development and documentation support to provide business requirements analysis for the federal client. This is a full time, temporary role.

Tasks:

Study and understand the business data requirements and potential users of each data type to be included in the client’s business data standardization efforts
Schedule and facilitate meetings which pertain to the development of data standards and implementation plans
Use templates to assist in documenting the business data requirements for each potential user of the data
Use templates to develop and document data a quality plan for each appropriate section of the data standard as assigned
Use templates to develop and document appropriate metadata records for the contents of the data standard as assigned
Develop and document a geodatabase schema to support and meet the business data requirements documented in earlier steps
Assist in compiling the initial national dataset and establishing the geospatial data replication processes and data quality reporting processes
Produce any additional documentation as appropriate to complete the effort as required by the data development process
Attends regular meetings to review work progress and schedule as well as meetings which pertain to the supported program/projects
Assists with the use of vegetative and soils monitoring data of upland and lentic systems and aquatic data for lotic systems to inform determination of condition
Travel to data requirements workshops and/or meetings
Submits weekly report which summarizes finished and ongoing tasks

Requirements

Demonstrate professional experience of greater than 2 years designing, developing, and implementing data standards for a large diverse organization. If publically available, please provide links to sites demonstrating the development, documentation, and implementation processes.
Demonstrate professional knowledge of concepts and principles of geospatial data management by providing a minimum of 1 specific work example
Demonstrate ability to read and understand logical data models and how to develop physical geospatial schemas from logical data models
Demonstrate ability to communicate technical information effectively to lay persons and geospatial technical experts alike
Demonstrate experience in public speaking. Preference will be given to those with experience in facilitating user requirements meetings.
Demonstrate experience in developing written technical documentation (such as user requirements, data implementation plans, data quality plans, metadata, data standards, white papers, etc.)
Demonstrate intermediate to advanced knowledge of ArcGIS desktop, geodatabases structure and capabilities, projections and other GIS elements
Demonstrate knowledge in geodatabase development in a relational database environment
Demonstrate in a narrative the range of data schemas worked on in the past
