Job: GIS Data Manager, GeoSearch, Inc., Minneapolis, MN
GeoSearch is seeking a GIS Data Manager to build, maintain and enhance our client's cloud-based data archive and to be a key member of our GIS Development Team working to create an online historical property research platform used by a variety of academic researchers, land use professionals and history buffs.
The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of database types and can demonstrate an understanding of how GIS technology can be leveraged to help attain client business objectives.
Primary Individual Responsibilities
Maintain cloud-based storage system of digital imagery including maps, aerial photographs and a variety of historical documents/data in various formats.
Create and maintain metadata.
Perform data cleaning and conversion into its desired form.
GIS Development Team Tasks
Help develop mapping applications and tools.
Assist with GIS-based platform design and specifications.
Administer communication and project tracking with third party GIS developers.
Degree in Computer Science, GIS, IT, Geography, or related field and at least 5 years of private industry or government experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
Proactive attitude and a demonstrated track record of creative problem solving.
Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL, Postgres, or Python.
Experience with mapping tools such as ArcGIS, Google Maps, QGIS and Carto.
Experience with cloud-based GIS applications and data, including ArcGIS Online.
Experience with cloud-based storage services such as Azure or AWS.
