Job Description

The GIS Analyst position utilizes best practices for GIS data management, data processing and analysis to identify and solve business problems for our customers. The GIS Analyst assists project managers in the implementation of industry-leading GIS solutions as well as ensures that all projects are delivered successfully. Remote option may be considered for the right candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Leverage out of the box and custom software solutions to perform GIS data management and analytical tasks.
- Generate innovative solutions by approaching problems with curiosity and open mindedness, using existing information to its fullest potential.
- Assist Project Managers in the installation and configuration of Esri, FlowGIS, and other third-party software applications.
- Create, maintain and/or modify existing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases.
- Provide on-site and/or remote training for clients and internal staff on FlowGIS and Esri software products.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in knowledge of GIS software solution platforms and requirements for implementation.
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in the geographic information systems field.
- Communicate effectively, both written and oral, with project teams and management staff.
- Perform other approved duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- A Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, or a related field from a four-year college or university.
- 5+ years of experience with Esri / ArcGIS software (Desktop and Server technologies)
- Experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server is a plus.
- Previous GIS experience in the utility sector is also a plus.
- Experience with Esri UPDM and Utility Network is also a plus.
- Knowledge of computer applications and functions including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, ESRI, CAD, and other related software.
- Ability to think analytically and solve problems.
- Genuine enthusiasm toward learning, pushing technical limits and finding new solutions.
- Knowledge in principles of cartography, including coordinate systems and projections, map composition and symbology.
- Spatial analysis and geoprocessing tools expertise (geocoding, linear referencing, routing, networks, CAD-GIS interaction, metadata, symbology, web-based mapping applications, WMS/web services.).
- Must be able to multi-task, manage time constraints and make deadlines. Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment as well as independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to excel in a detail-oriented environment with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be available to work during regular business hours.
- Must have valid driver's license and able to operate a car or truck.

Education and Experience:

- A Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, or a related field from a four-year college or university.
- 5+ years of experience with Esri / ArcGIS software (Desktop and Server technologies)
- 3+ years of experience in GIS performing data management, analysis, and cartographic representation.
- 2+ years of experience with ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS Pro, etc.) implementation and configuration
