Under general supervision, performs technical work in support of the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) programs and services; generates various maps and plots; provides audio-visual technical support for public meetings, programming, and broadcasting; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This technical level classification is responsible for performing routine support for specialized GIS database maintenance and map production tasks. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult and incumbents work independently, exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

Job Requirements


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in geographic information systems, computer science, or closely related field or a certification in geographic information systems and two (2) years of technical experience in geographic information systems technical support, sub-professional drafting, computer-aided design experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.
Experience working with Esri or Esri certification is highly desirable.
Experience working with a Police Department and/or CAD/RMS is desirable.
