Your everyday work will focus on training and deploying deep learning algorithms at scale. As a machine learning engineer, you will take on real-world ML problems for our partners at NASA, the World Bank, ESA, and others.

A core focus of our ML work is to multiply the effort of others. The algorithms you develop will advance work in the development and humanitarian communities. Through these tools and infrastructure, you will empower our partners to work to address current social and economic challenges.

As a machine learning engineer, you will:
Train ML models and deploy them at a global scale
Integrate ML models into geospatial mapping tools, data visualization platforms, and scalable analysis platforms
Use cloud services & containerized workflows to perform training and inference
Work with development and humanitarian organizations to understand where and how ML can help, and then make it happen
Work with domain experts and organizations focused on the development and humanitarian efforts to create real-world impact with scalable ML applications
Use the best technology and practices available in the ML and Geo communities to ensure successful projects
Learn and grow with a team that is committed to your success
Work in the open. We support open source, open ML, and open science and take pride in the impact we make. We encourage you to talk about your work through blogging, presentations at conferences, seminars, and workshops
Contribute to proposals for new ML projects

We are looking for candidates with:
Proficiency in deep learning libraries like Tensorflow and/or PyTorch
Proficiency in using these libraries for classification, object detection, and segmentation tasks
Experience with AWS or other cloud services in the context of ML
Experience with creating containerized workflows
Experience with Github and team-driven development
A mathematically sound, disciplined approach to ML that makes a real-world impact
Experience creating project proposals
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to solve new challenges
A strong sense of curiosity
